Cash Model Explained

Regain autonomy over your treatment

Insurance-paid therapy can be a wonderful way to access treatment that otherwise cannot be afforded. Unfortunately it also comes with many strings, often invisible to those receiving therapy.

Therapy will not be paid by insurance if the "client" (you) is not diagnosed with an "approved disorder" (e.g. major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, etc.), with sufficient justification as to why therapy is necessary for them. This often leaves therapists in sticky situations, many of whom are willing to bend the truth so that they can get paid. Thus, leaving the client (you) often unnecessarily misdiagnosed and often unaware of said diagnosis.

A cash based model, like I use at Faithful Surrender Counseling, combats this red tape and ethical grey area and allows me to prioritize your needs above all else. This means that I don't need to diagnose you with anxiety, or depression, or some other label that you'll carry around with you the rest of your life just to get you the help you deserve.

It also allows me to be more creative in your treatment. We can go for hikes, or walks, or engage in other activities that insurance would never pay for. Thus, we can utilize the full healing potential of our body-mind-spirit-emotion connection to efficiently make meaningful change.

While this is my work, and my way of providing for my family, I also understand that a cash-based model can be prohibitive for some.

Jesus instructs us: "Freely you have received. Freely give."

And while it is not yet possible for me to give my services fully free of charge, I am wiling to work with those who ask because they are in need.

So if this is you, please feel free to reach out using the scheduling tab in the menu; make your request known in this form and we will discuss from there. If I am a good fit for you, and you are a good fit for my services, we can likely work some arrangement out.

Alternative, lower cost options that I provide are also available. I do perform public seminars, which are low-cost (typically between $10-20 per person) and group therapy (typically around $35 per session). Together we can decide what is a good fit for you and if I am your best option.

In-Person vs. Virtual Therapy

Both virtual and in-person therapy can be productive. However, virtual therapy can sacrifice many of the crucial elements of therapy which allow for effective healing to take shape.

As such, Faithful Surrender Counseling by default prioritizes in-person therapy as it allows for a greater relationship to build between client and therapist, it more naturally allows for experiential learning styles, and it sets aside the intentionality necessary for meaningful change to take place.

I am also understanding of the chaos which can occur in life - managing work, children, pets, and so much more can be challenging. I understand this and still ask that we prioritize in-person treatment because the healing path you are set upon deserves intentional effort and attention.

If in-person therapy is impossible for you due to location, disability, or other circumstances, we can discuss the option of virtual treatment. Similarly, if you are working with me and we need to occasionally switch to virtual, we can manage that - whether it is due to weather, emergency, or other circumstances which come up. The key to success here is effective communication all around.
