Faithful Surrender Relationship Intensives
Focused, structured counseling for couples who want deeper clarity and meaningful momentum.
Some couples make progress in weekly therapy, but still find themselves returning to the same painful patterns. A Relationship Intensive offers extended, focused time to better understand what is happening beneath recurring conflict and begin practicing new ways of relating.
This is not simply a longer therapy session. It is a thoughtfully prepared counseling experience designed to help couples slow down, see the pattern more clearly, and leave with a more practical path forward.
What Is a Relationship Intensive?
A Relationship Intensive is an immersive counseling experience designed to give couples uninterrupted time for deeper therapeutic work.
In traditional weekly therapy, meaningful conversations often begin just as the session is ending. Then life continues, new conflict arises, and the next session may begin with the newest concern rather than continuing the deeper work.
An intensive creates space to stay with the process.
Rather than moving from one weekly emergency to the next, we are able to slow down, identify the recurring relationship cycle, explore the emotions and needs beneath the conflict, and practice new ways of responding in real time.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can insurance cover a Relationship Intensive?
Relationship Intensives are offered as a private-pay service and are not billed through insurance. This format allows for greater flexibility in scheduling, treatment planning, and the amount of time we spend together than insurance typically permits.
Do we have to be current clients?
No. While some couples transition into an intensive after participating in weekly therapy, others begin with an intensive after an initial consultation. We'll first determine whether this format is appropriate for your goals and circumstances.
How do we know if we're a good fit for an intensive?
During an initial consultation, we'll discuss your relationship, your goals, and what you're hoping to accomplish. If I believe an intensive is likely to be beneficial, I'll explain why. If I believe another approach would better serve your needs, I'll tell you that as well. My goal is to recommend the format that best supports your relationship—not simply the most intensive option.
What happens after the intensive?
An intensive is designed to create momentum, not to replace ongoing growth. Many couples continue with follow-up counseling after their intensive to reinforce new patterns, address challenges as they arise, and continue building on the work we've begun together. Others prefer to take a break from therapy to see how they are able to apply their growth to their lives together. Together, we'll determine a follow-up plan that fits your needs.
Can we split the weekend differently?
Yes. While a typical intensive is scheduled over two days, I understand that work schedules, childcare, travel, and other responsibilities vary from couple to couple. When appropriate, we can discuss alternative scheduling options that still preserve the continuity and momentum that make an intensive effective.
How much preparation is required?
Before the intensive, you'll complete questionnaires and reflection materials that help clarify your goals, identify recurring relationship patterns, and provide important background information. I also spend time reviewing this information and preparing specifically for your relationship so that our time together can be as focused and intentional as possible.
What can we expect during the intensive?
Each intensive is tailored to the unique needs of the couple. Our time together may include guided conversations, experiential exercises, communication coaching, reflection, education, and practical skill-building. The pace is intentional, allowing us to slow down, stay with important conversations, and build on new insights as they emerge.
Is a Relationship Intensive only for couples in crisis?
Not at all. While some couples pursue an intensive during a season of significant distress, many choose this format simply because they want dedicated time to strengthen their relationship, deepen their understanding of one another, and create meaningful momentum. An intensive is about intentional growth—not just crisis intervention.
How long is a Relationship Intensive?
Most Relationship Intensives include approximately nine hours of counseling, typically scheduled over two days. A common format is six hours on Saturday (with a lunch break) followed by three hours on Sunday, though scheduling can be adjusted when appropriate.
What is the cost of a Relationship Intensive?
Relationship Intensives are offered as a private-pay service. The fee includes clinical preparation, customized treatment planning, the intensive itself, experiential exercises, and follow-up recommendations. Current pricing and payment options are available on this page or can be discussed during your consultation.
